Becoming a foster parent in the Philippines means providing family-based care to a child in need under the Foster Care Act of 2012 (RA 10165). Applicants are assessed by a licensed social worker and certified by the DSWD, and being ready to respond to a child's health and safety needs — including basic first aid — is part of providing proper care.
急救要求
Foster care in the Philippines is governed by Republic Act No. 10165 (the Foster Care Act of 2012) and its Implementing Rules and Regulations, administered by the DSWD. Foster parents must be at least 21 years old, physically and mentally fit and free from any disqualifying condition, undergo a home study by a licensed social worker, and be certified by the DSWD. Applicants are trained in child care and development, and holding a current first-aid and CPR certificate is encouraged to respond to choking, injuries and cardiac emergencies.
The Foster Family Care License and certification rest on the home study and the carer's capacity to meet the child's needs. A first-aid certificate is a supporting element of that preparation, in addition to the assessment, and does not on its own qualify a person to foster.
