The Philippines requires every workplace to have at least one DOLE-recognised certified first-aider, with the number scaling by headcount and risk level under Republic Act No. 11058 (Occupational Safety and Health Standards Law) and its implementing rules. Establishments with 10–50 workers at medium/high risk and those with 51 or more workers require first-aiders trained to the 'Standard First Aid + BLS' standard.
Childcare centres in the Philippines must have at least two adults trained in health care, nutrition and emergency (first aid) procedures and keep a first aid kit available at all times, under Republic Act No. 10410 (Early Years Act of 2013) and the ECCD Council's standards. Online courses are accepted and no fixed CPR-certificate renewal cycle is specified.
The Philippines has no stand-alone Good Samaritan statute granting immunity to rescuers; instead art. 275 of the Revised Penal Code (Act No. 3815) imposes a duty to assist a person found wounded or in danger, and courts treat humanitarian intent as a mitigating circumstance. Republic Act No. 8344 separately obliges hospitals to treat emergencies.
In the Philippines, registered nurses must earn CPD units to renew their PRC professional license under Republic Act 10912 (Continuing Professional Development Act of 2016) — 15 units per three-year period from PRC-accredited providers. PRC-accredited BLS and ACLS courses carry approved CPD units, so CPR training counts directly toward renewal.
Caregivers in Philippine residential homes for the aged, assisted-living residences and home-based caregiving work under the TESDA Caregiving NC II qualification, which includes the common competency 'Applying basic first aid'. A separate BLS (Basic Life Support) certificate is required before the TESDA assessment and should be renewed periodically.
Foster care in the Philippines is governed by Republic Act No. 10165 (Foster Care Act of 2012) and its Implementing Rules, administered by the DSWD, with applicants aged 21+ assessed through a home study by a licensed social worker. Holding a current first-aid and CPR certificate is encouraged as part of a foster parent's preparation but does not on its own qualify a person to foster.
Online CPR and first aid training is recognized in the Philippines, carrying a 3-year certification. Online theory is permitted while the mandatory hands-on skills assessment is completed in person with a recognized provider — a blended model, standard for the statutory workplace first-aider certificate.
