The first-aid requirement

In these settings the caregiver role is built on the TESDA Caregiving NC II qualification, which includes the common competency 'Applying basic first aid', and a separate BLS (Basic Life Support) certificate is required before the TESDA assessment. Caregivers should be able to respond to an emergency involving an older or vulnerable resident until help arrives.

A recognised, up-to-date first-aid and CPR certificate is a required credential embedded in the caregiver pathway; it is in addition to the caregiver's occupational training and should be renewed periodically.
